Look, I’m well aware that reality television relies on irking its audience, that a rise in the ratings can be in direct correlation to how annoying one character (if not more) can be. Me, I don’t necessarily tune in to a show just to get ticked off. In order to tune in, it’s either buzz or body: Either the show is all anyone is talking about or I caught a preview for an episode and one cast member is too gorgeous not to be further looked into (see Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, etc.).

But, thanks in large part, I believe, to the “American Idol” audition episodes, there are a wealth of folks whose singular goal is to get in front of a TV camera and be outlandish or obnoxious, or both.

Beyond those simply looking to captivate for the time it takes for a bathroom break, there have also been those who seized the secondary role they were in — like Spencer Pratt from “The Hills” or Omarosa from “The Apprentice” — and knew that the more they turned it up, the more we would tune in. Scott Disick, Mr. Kourtney Kardashian, might be a more recent and relevant reference point.

This summer saw its fair share of reality raucousness, Disick included. Here is a list of those who either stole the spotlight or tried really hard to, annoyingly so:
