UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, who has been out of action since April 2011 with a torn ACL, has been medically cleared to resume fighting.

St. Pierre is tentatively scheduled to face interim 170-pound titleholder Carlos Condit on Nov. 17 at UFC 154 in Montreal.

“I’m now medically cleared to compete in mixed martial arts events,” St. Pierre said Tuesday on Twitter.

St. Pierre (22-2) suffered the injury in December while preparing to defend his title against former Strikeforce 170-pound champion Nick Diaz. The two were slated to fight on Feb. 4 at UFC 143.

Condit (28-5) replaced St. Pierre at the event and beat Diaz by unanimous decision to earn the interim belt.

St. Pierre last competed inside the Octagon on April 30, 2011 at UFC 129 in Toronto. He defeated former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields by unanimous decision.

Aside from his scheduled meeting with Condit in November, St. Pierre’s name has been mentioned repeatedly as part of a possible mega-fight with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
