The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is no ordinary car, so it gets no ordinary teasers. Instead of a single photo with a couple of artistic graphical strokes to whet appetites for the redesigned 2013 S-Class, we get the Aesthetics S sculpture and notice of a vernissage at the Paris Motor Show.

Called “an artistic glimpse of the design of the luxury saloon of the foreseeable future,” the Aesthetics S will be our preview into the look of the defining premium luxury sedan.

The preview will come in the form of the debut of this “relief-like sculpture” alongside light projections as the shape is revealed in three acts “using a modern means of design and implementation.” And to make sure everyone there knows their history, the Pink Floyd laser-light show projection event will involve the W189, W108 and W126 S-Classes as well.

Not to be considered a concept-only one-off, Mercedes’ head of design said that whatever we see will “put a face to our design philosophy over the coming years.”
