Fashionistas of all styles swarmed Manhattan boutiques and department stores Thursday night, snapping up gift bags and bargains at the shopfest known as Fashion’s Night Out.

From uptown to downtown, shoppers wore out their Manolo Blahniks chasing the hottest designers on the planet and celebrities galore in the annual kickoff to New York Fashion Week.
Whether it was Kim Kardashian pitching her perfume at Lord & Taylor or swimsuit model Kate Upton judging a karaoke at the Michael Kors on Fifth Ave., the chic had an abundance of events to choose from.
“I am so excited I could die!” said Kors, introducing Upton and actresses Debra Messing and Nikki Reed to shoppers mobbing his store.

Messing, star of the NBC series “Smash,” glammed it up for the occasion, wearing a black-and-white furry vest.

“I’m feeling sassy,” Messing said.

More than 700 stores were set to keep their doors open until 11 p.m. and were enticing patrons with free flutes of champagne and trendy cocktails to sip while browsing their aisles.

The Daily News dove into the action, dispatching its team of stylists to American Eagle Outfitters in Soho to give makeovers to fashion victims and 20% discounts to readers.

The Empire State Building was lit in red to commemorate the fourth year of the festivities.

Launched in 2009 by Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the wildly popular event has been a boon to the city’s retailers and has spread to 500 cities in 19 country.
Lord & Taylor was jam-packed with people hoping for a bargain and a celebrity sighting or two. While reality TV darling Kim Kardashian was on one floor signing bottles of her perfume, Olympic skating star Kristi Yamaguchi was on another floor autographing tote bags and pitching her Tsu.ya line of clothes.

Julie Stache, 31, of Brussels, Belgium, had to fight through a crush of fans, security guards and photographers just to get a glimpse of Kardashian.

“She’s very, very pretty,” an excited Stache said. “I just saw her face. Her makeup is really well done.”
Elsewhere around the city, singer Cyndi Lauper was serenading shoppers at Manolo Blahnik boutique on W. 54th St. and Jennifer Hudson debuted her clothing line at a pop-up shop in the Meatpacking District.

“It’s like the fashion Oscars,” Academy Award-winner Hudson said of Fashion’s Night Out. “You walk around and you see all these different styles and you get so inspired.”
