Cops arrested a homeless brute who assaulted a police officer in a Brooklyn subway station and pushed her down a flight of stairs.

The wild ordeal began after a team of cops spotted Michael Ellison, 25, swiping a student MetroCard at the J train station on Gates Ave. in Bushwick about 10:50 a.m. Friday, police said.

The officers approached Ellison to place him under arrest, but he lashed out and knocked the female officer down the stairs, cops said.

Ellison ran away and the injured cop was taken to Wyckoff Hospital, where she was treated for two broken ankles and a gash on her head that required 10 stitches, police said.

Ellison — who is 6 feet tall and weighs about 185 pounds, and has the word “Smoove” tattooed on the right side of his neck — was at large until Saturday.

Ellison was caught Saturday afternoon because of a tip called in after police released his photo. He was charged with assault and theft of service, cops said.
