The Big East has no intention of changing its name after all.  Big East commissioner Mike Aresco told the Associated Press that there are no plays to alter the name the conference has always had despite it becoming a four-time zone league.  Read more after the jump.

“There’s tremendous brand equity built up in the Big East name,” Aresco said.

Joe Bailey, the Big East’s former interim commissioner, said this week that the Big East was considering a name change.

Aresco also told the AP that negotiations with ESPN for a new TV deal are expected to begin soon. The commissioner said that other networks showed interesting in the Big East television package, but the intention is to stay with ESPN. The two parties are in the middle of a 60-day exclusive negotiating window..
