“I’m so NY, Weezy probably don’t like me,” Fabolous raps on the hook of this track he just sent over to us. An obvious reference to Lil Wayne’s recent comments about the Big Apple, where he admitted “flat out” he doesn’t like the city. I wonder if this will spark some beef between the two, or if Wayne will look at it as Fab just being creative? Hmm! Listen below and share your thoughts!

@RomoImperial that line about cash money is from “Go hard” which is another song by Fab made like 2 years ago. he’s just restating the line. NY rappers are not united too much ego. I love Fif and Jay but they got too much ego to get together and make a bangin ass hit song
[...] It has been a minute that Fabolous has dropped some new work that isn’t featured on a mixtape, but the Brooklyn emcee is back with “So NY.” With a hook that says “I’m so New York, Weezy don’t like me,” it sounds like Fab might ruffle some feathers for waving the flag of his hometown. Over some vicious Just Blaze production, Fab is back on his street ish and is sounding hungrier than ever before. For those unsatisfied with Fab’s recent mixtape work, this should absolutely suffice, as this song is rumored to be the street single for Fab’s latest full length album under Def Jam Records. Fabolous hasn’t released an official album under Def Jam in three years with, Loso’s Way. Hit the jump to listen and download “So NY,” courtesy of Flex. [...]

If this is to be a diss record, where has hip hop gone, i agree with a few comment above…media hypes everything to be a diss record…. weezy will ignore it… well he better at least.
Let’s be real here. It is common for rappers to take current events and outlandish public statements and incorporate it into a verse. It is what makes hip hop current. Fab is from Bklyn, if he was gonna take a shot, he’d “flat out” make a diss track (see what I did there). However, his line about Weezy was just a mere play on words because he knows what Lil Wayne said was controversial.

In Hip Hop, we battle. If you have a problem with someone or think they are wack, BATTLE. This is what our culture is based on. Media might call it “BEEF,” but this is what Hip Hop is all about… Nine Elements
-DJ HANGLOOSE
DJ HANGLOOSE,
You are SO right! I understand exactly what you are saying! Our culture is portrayed in the media as a negative thing, however, it was created to bring peace and unity. Battles are important because it is one of the only cultures these days that solve problems through artistic expression, not violence, yet still get a bad Rep. Check the elements…
