The Wingtip
No longer reserved for old geezers or funeral directors, the wingtip is a core staple for the guy looking to exude a little bit of class. From brown Windsor lace-ups to solid black with steel toecaps, there is a wide range of options that run from classic to the downright futuristic.

Loafers
Thanks to the less-than-awesome guys who sometimes rock them, loafers are a little controversial. But they can be quite elegant when they’re in the hands of the right designers. Penny loafers have made a resurgence (though the pennies tucked into the shoe sleeve thankfully haven’t), in certain cases as hybrids (i.e. part loafer, part boot), and with fastening options ranging from laces to monk straps.

Boots
From cowboy to heavy work, and everything in between, of-the-moment designers offer boot options for any ensemble. If you’re planning on getting down, however, try and make sure you’re not hauling around 10 pounds on each foot. Might make things tricky.

Slippers
Yes, slippers. But we’re not talking about that ratty cotton blend pair your mom bought you for Christmas that you wear around the house in your sweats. We’re talking about the numerous upscale models from top designers, constructed from materials ranging from shearling to velvet to suede, with prints varying from camouflage to leopard. The ultimate in style with comfort.

The Motocross
Basically the fancy British way to say “motorcycle jacket,” the motocross is, in fact, a far cry from the typical leather get-ups one might see chubby bearded bikers sporting along the freeway. (Bad to the bone!) Known for its fitted style, the motocross can actually go with any get-up, from the wildly casual to the incredibly upscale. Plus, if you’re suddenly thrown from the dance floor, you’ll go skidding across the tile with minimal bodily damage. Safety first.

The Trench
While trench coats have gotten a bad name, not every trench is created equally creepy. If the coat is fitted (as to not make any bouncers wonder what in the world you’re trying to sneak in under there) and the appropriate length (above the knee), the trench makes for an excellently trendy addition to your club ensemble. Go ahead and pop your collar.

The Bomber
Think you’re too cool to wear a jacket that was made popular by the dudes who won World War II? Think again! Bombers have made a comeback, with newer designs retaining just enough of the military-themed detail to be cool but not kitschy. The bomber style demonstrates a great combination of rugged masculinity and sleek comfort that you really can’t go wrong with. Plus, you’ll certainly stay warm while the other club kids are freezing their autumn tails off.

The Traditional Wool
Simple does not mean boring. Things that seem “traditional” got that way because they’ve stood the test of time, and the same can certainly be said for traditional wool coats. This fall will see a return to reserved form, with colors erring on the side of solid and discreet (think gray, dark blue and the most traditional of all, black). A number of designers are rolling out looks that emphasize the understated, so why not embrace this new found emphasis on subtlety while it lasts.
