Rumors about the deteriorating relationship between Floyd Mayweather and rapper 50 Cent have been circulating around the boxing community, and the latter spoke out about the subject during a recent interview.

According to 50, the relationship between the two hasn’t been the same ever since boxing’s pound-for-pound king was released from the Clark County Detention Center, but they’re still on friendly terms.

“Floyd is a friend of mine,” 50 Cent said. “I look at Floyd like he’s my younger brother. He earns so much that he just spends it. He just run around and spend it; he spend it and do what he want, so there’s no urgency to anything. And then when the communication breaks and it starts to not be… look, my concept of TMT is the fights you want to see. It’s Floyd, Manny Pacquiao, the fight.”

Apparently, 50’s originally idea was to work with Mayweather and Pacquiao in order to make the highly anticipated fight between the two a reality, but “Money” wasn’t really interested in the partnership. Not that surprising, considering the fact Mayweather likes to be the captain of his ship.

50 Cent plans to move forward with his relationship with Pacquiao, and he doesn’t think that’ll affect his relationship with Floyd.

“I don’t think so,” 50 responded when asked if his decision to work with the Filipino congressman would have any negative impact on his relationship with Mayweather. “I think he’ll go ‘I wish him luck.’ … It’s not like I’m not in communication with him. I texted him and told him everything.”

Even though it doesn’t look like Mayweather will be a big part of The Money Team promotions, I do think 50 Cent has what it takes to compete in the boxing industry. He’s already proven that he’s a business savvy individual, and his experience as an entertainer should help him in his pursuits as a promoter.

50 Cent might be bummed about the fact he wasn’t able to get Mayweather on board, but it’s probably for the best. In my opinion, businesses and friendships are best left separate.
