COCOA (AP) –
A central Florida college professor is being investigated for asking her students to support President Barack Obama during her classes.

A Brevard Community College spokesman says they have received complaints of “politically based, inappropriate behavior” during Sharon Sweet’s classes. The assistant math professor is accused of soliciting support for Obama in the November election.

College spokesman John Glisch says Sweet, 58, asked for and has been granted a leave of absence without pay. The college is investigating and will interview more than 100 students.

Phone messages and an e-mail left Tuesday for Sweet at the college and at her home were not immediately returned.

A college statement says it does not allow employees to solicit support for a political candidate during school hours or on college property.
