Awwww sh*t, someone sampled something they weren’t a-supposed to!! Lucccyyyy Kannyyyee!!!
Kanye West and his ladylove Kim Kardashian may have to put their baby making plans on hold, as it seems the man who once walked with Jesus is being slapped with a copyright infringement lawsuit for samples used in 2010 smash success My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy!
New York based label TufAmerica claims ‘Ye used snippets of Hook and Sling, Part 1 by New Orleans singer & pianist Eddie Bo, a tune which the label owns the rights to. Kanye sampled the song in Who Will Survive in America? and Lost in the World.
The lawsuit alleges that while Kanye DID pay an agreed sum of $62,500 to use the song, he “failed and refused to enter into written license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of [‘Hook and Sling’].”
The sample can also be found in Ye’s short film based on the tune Runaway, and in the Lost in the World music video.
Dayum, all this and a bag of chips supposed sex tapes too? Kanye’s got some explainin’ to do!
