Apple and Verizon finally fixed a bug plaguing new iPhone 5 users over the weekend. The problems Verizon iPhone 5 users had was they were unable to connect to cellular service while connected to wi-fi.

The issue has been a big problem for Verizon customers, who have seen their data allowances quickly diminish since they picked up Apple’s latest smartphone — even when using Wi-Fi connections.

Unlike previous iPhone updates, this one won’t come via iTunes, or via the Software Update feature built into the Settings app. To install this one, users must open the Settings app, then tap ‘General’, and then tap on the ‘About’ tab. They will then be greeted by a popup that informs them “important new settings” are ready for download.

Verizon iPhone 5 customers aren’t the only ones with Wi-Fi issues, of course. Those who have updated the iPhone 4S and the new iPad to iOS 6 are also experiencing problems, with some unable to activate Wi-Fi at all.
