Justin Timberlake is being credited as the spark that helped the Shriners Hospitals for Children land a Las Vegas PGA Tour event.
At the same time, he’s also being thrown under the bus for not getting more involved with the children the charity raises money for.

Five years ago, the singer-turned-actor began hosting an annual celebrity golf tournament in Las Vegas for the organization. Next year the golf tournament will be an actual PGA Open during the Tour’s FedEx Cup series and JT will no longer be associated with the charity.

While his involvement has helped raise millions of dollars for the cause, tournament chairman Raoul Frevel claims Timberlake “disappeared” when the cameras did and explained:

“We’re a world-class organization. At the time we got involved with golf, we were told by the [Las Vegas PGA] Tour we needed a big name, and that’s how our relationship with Justin came about. Justin’s a wonderful person. But we tried everything we could to get him more involved with our kids and the hospitals. But it seemed that when the TV cameras weren’t on, he disappeared.”

It could be completely true that JT wasn’t innerested in spending time with Shriners’ kids, but not everyone can be Mother Teresa.

The guy still raised A LOT of money that will help sick kids more than 5 minutes with him ever could, so we don’t think it’s necessarily fair to criticize him. Do you?
