Not too long after singer The Dream was appointed VP of A&R at Def Jam, producer Dallas Austin has moved up in the ranks as well. “I am truly honored to be working with the most cutting-edge and creative artists in the business,” Dallas said of the new venture. “I look forward to discovering new talent and continuing to build on Island Records’ storied history.” A statement from Def Jam CEO Barry Weiss below. Congrats!
“Dallas is a modern day music man: a veteran who has been supplying chart hits to this industry for more than two decades, across multiple genres and around the world,” said Mr. Weiss. “Island Records is fortunate that such a coveted creative force is working with the company and its artists, bringing his experience and expertise to Island at this exciting time in the company’s history. The work he has just done on new Island artist Nikki Williams is nothing short of stunning.”
i wonder at times why people define rap/r/b to be a music of color instead of what it is really a definition of self and experiences related to our lives shared with the people who in turn can relate to our situations we have lived durring our struggles in the hood or otherwise.im light skinned but i rap and sing get called n****r and told your not a black man! but i say ive endurred the same treatment so to be called a n****r i say im black and im proud!!!
