According to insiders Google plans on releasing a cheaper version of it Nexus 7 tablet. The cheaper Nexus tablet will be sold for $99. This pricing will put a lot of pressure on other Tablet makers either to make cheaper Tablets or slash prices. The rumor is that Google plans on releasing the Tablet right before the holiday season. This holiday season the options for Tablets look endless.
The US$99 Nexus tablet is equipped with an ARM-architecture single-core processor 8950 developed by China-based WonderMedia Technologies, and a HUVA TN panel made by Taiwan-based HannStar Display, the sources said. The tablet will be produced by Taiwan-based Quanta Computer.
However, Quanta declined to comment and Asustek Computer, a Taiwan-based vendor developing Nexus 7 through cooperation with Google, indicated that it has no plans to launch US$99 Nexus.
If Google launches such a US$99 tablet, China-based white-box vendors of inexpensive tablets are expected to be under heavy competitive pressure, the sources pointed out.
