The Knicks have been playing excellent basketball going 4-0 despite being without one of their star players, Amare Stoudemire.  He injured his knee during a preseason game and we haven’t heard much from him or about his progress since.  Now it appears we may have a return date.  Read more after the jump.

According to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News:

Amar’e Stoudemire hasn’t been made available to the media since he injured his knee in a preseason game in Montreal on Oct. 19, but apparently he is progressing.

“He’s not on the bench sitting, but he’s back there getting treatment every day,’’ Woodson said. “I don’t think he’s on crutches at all. He’s walking all right. I just see him on the table getting treatment. I ask him how he’s doing and I keep moving.’’

Stoudemire might not be able to play until late December

Since Stoudemire has been out the Knicks have clicked and because of that many fans want him to come off the bench when he returns.  This isn’t exactly a new thought as last season many people thought he and Melo couldn’t play together and he would be much more effective playing with the second unit.  I agree that it would work but whether or not it’ll happen is questionable.  Benching a $100 million man isn’t exactly the easiest feat just look at Michael Vick with the Eagles and it took the Yankees to play horribly before they finally benched Alex Rodriguez.  Hopefully coach Mike Woodson doesn’t wait for things to tumble.
