Of course! Rap did. In one of Meek’s latest interviews, he speaks about how rap saved him. During his younger days, Meek would be on the street corners, battling, freestyling, and spending time with friends. Around his way, South Philly, he claimed was the most “hood” part of Philly. This was a bit rough for him. He walked out of his house with a gun to be safe, till eventually he got caught and locked up. He didn’t want to rot in jail but he did have the gun because he didn’t want to die out there (lose/lose situation). It was all until the judge granted him his wishes to go into the studio and record, then he was able to really utilize his time better and was able to make 6 songs a day in the 12 hours he would be in the studio, how dope! There’s even footage of Meek with his long hair from back in the day (LOL!).. Pick up Dreams & Nightmares out in stores now & check out the full interview below!
