One individual has found a unique way to help out the victims of Hurricane Sandy: Selling the (mostly) illegal drug, marijuana.

Speaking to The Huffington Post, the anonymous marijuana dealer said that he donated half of the proceeds made by selling the drug over two days last week to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The marijuana dealer was apparently unconcerned with the ethical implications of donating drug money to the storm’s relief program. After all, victims of Hurricane Sandy need supplies, and the situation does post an interesting question: Should drug money be used by charities? We can debate the merits of the legality or illegality of marijuana all day, but donating drug proceeds to the victims in the Rockaways, some of whom still do not have power, may still prompt some negative emotions.

But the marijuana dealer who donated simply wanted to help out, raising $700 for the cause.

“Look, there are probably some people down there [in the Rockaways] who want some marijuana — but that’s not going to clothe and feed them,” he said. “So in order for me to help, I needed to turn what I do into something concrete that I could give to them.”
