Thanksgiving is barely over and the Obamas are already putting up their Christmas decorations. First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters Sasha and Malia were on hand to receive the White House Christmas tree as it was delivered Friday. The 19-foot Fraser fir was carried to the White House in an open green carriage pulled by two Clydesdale horses as a military band played “O Christmas Tree.”
The first lady looked festive in a full rose skirt paired with a belted black top. First dog Bo got a little spooked by the Clydesdales as they snorted and stamped in the White House driveway. After greeting the top hat-sporting driver, Obama and the girls walked around to the back of the carriage to take a look at their tree. Obama leaned in to smell the needles, while Malia examined its top. “Always make sure it has a really nice small point at the top,” Malia advised her mom. “That’s what I always look for.
“I think we’ll take it. Do you agree?” the first lady asked the girls. “I agree,” Malia said. “It’s a go – we’re good,” Obama declared with a thumbs up at the press. “We can have Christmas now!” The family then went back inside, with Bo stopping for one last alarmed look at the horses. The tree will be on display in the White House Blue Room through the holidays.
