Yesterday the list was released for the NBA’s best selling jerseys, today we have the NFL’s.  Can you guess who takes that top spot?  I knew he’d be in top 5, but didn’t think he’d be number one!

Darren Rovell at ESPN.com breaks it down:

Thanks to a strong weekend in sales, Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III now has the league’s top selling jersey, according to the NFL, quoting sales from its official online store, NFLShop.com.

RG3 surpassed Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who had been in the top spot.Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is first among players who aren’t wearing new jerseys this season, comes in at No. 3.

All quarterbacks round out the rest of the top six in sales monitored from April 1 to Nov. 27. Peyton’s brother, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, is at No. 4, New England quarterback Tom Brady is in the fifth spot and Peyton’s replacement in Indianapolis, rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, is sixth.

Due to lack of playing time, New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow, who has been near the top of the jersey sales list since being traded from the Broncos to make way for Peyton Manning, has fallen to No. 8, one spot behind New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.

The man who plays ahead of Tebow, Mark Sanchez, has not been among the top 25 purchased jerseys in the league for months now.
