The mother turned a space heater on to the highest setting because her daughter’s room seemed chilly, but it would be the last time she kissed her little girl good night as the room raised to temperatures over 130 degrees fahrenheit in the middle of the night. Police have arrested the parents of the 18 month old who spent 12 hours in an overheated room before her parents found her dead at 10 AM. Jesika Case found her 18 month old baby girl dead in an overheated room in her home and immediately moved the baby from the bed to the floor just outside her room. Lynn Matthews a local letter carrier who happened to be in the area ran to the house after hearing Jeremy Cox, the father screaming. Matthews tried to help revive the baby and performed CPR but the baby was very warm and visibly turning blue. The little girl later died at the hospital. Both parents admit to using marijuana after putting the baby to bed and cite the heater for the death but police say they believe the parents have a responsibility to make sure the room is well ventilated and that negligence played a part here.
