Steve Barton was shot in the face and neck when a crazed man, James Holmes,  walked into a movie theater during the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises and opened fire killing 12 and injuring 38 people. Barton ironically grew up 15 minutes from Newton, Connecticut where Adam Lanza opened fire at an elementary school yesterday. Today, Barton is speaking out about gun control urging President Obama to act on his words. He says that President Obama promised Aurora victims something will be done in regards to gun control and here were are five months later grieving the loss of young children. Barton spoke to the Huffington Post to share his thoughts on the tragedy. Read more below.

Steve Barton said: “I thought we were going to get somewhere after what happened in Aurora and frankly, all we got was silence. It’s unbelievable for me to imagine a world where 20 children have been killed and we’re not going to have any conversation at all about the tool that was used to kill them.” This shooting has sparked the debate about gun control and all I’ve heard is “guns don’t kill people, people do,” but something needs to be done. Why should this guy have that many guns in his possession?!
