As every female who grew up in the 90’s knows that during this year’s 2013 MTV Music Video Awards, boy band sensation ‘N Sync reunited on stage during Justin Timberlake’s glorious 15 minute performance after he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. There was a lot of hype and chit chat over the group’s possible reunion during the awards, but when it happened, a lot of diehard fans were a tad bit let down because they only performed one song and that was that. Well, according to the group’s once rivals from the 90’s, the Backstreet Boys were disappointed, too. Find out why below.

Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys caught up with Life & Style at the Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama event this past week and spoke on ‘N Sync’s performance.

Nick Carter said, “We were a little down. Seriously — cause we thought there was a reunion happening!”

However, the BSB also had good things to say about the (sort of) reunion. AJ said, “Lance killed it, Justin killed it – they all did really good.”

Not to burst any bubbles, but the group also semi-confirmed that although it would be a dream come true, ‘N Sync/ Backstreet Boys won’t be linking up any time soon. “It was kind of like a one time thing for all the fans,” AJ stated. “It was a nice gesture for all the die hard fans, but I guess there won’t be any Backstreet/’N Sync tours happening soon.”

For those of you who missed out on the short reunion, check it out below.

On a serious note though– I screamed like a little kid in a candy shop when they came out together on stage. I mean I was born in the 90’s, what do you expect?! (Ladies: I know you all remember that “Bye Bye Bye” dance, too. Don’t front!)
