Who can blame the guy for this request?  I’d be done with the team as well after everything that’s happened. Tim Tebow was active in yesterday’s loss (27-17) to the Chargers, but did not play & he made a request early last week about the game.

SB Nation came up with a hilarious list of reasons as to why Tebow made his request.  Story after the jump with some possible reasons…

According to Rich Cimini and Jane McManus at ESPNNewYork.com:

New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow was so frustrated when the starting job was conferred upon Greg McElroy early last week that he told the coaches he didn’t want to be used in any Wildcat packages Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, multiple Jets sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

In Tebow’s absence, wide receiver Jeremy Kerley — a former high school quarterback — ran the plays for the first time all season. The Wildcat has been Tebow’s package, and was the reason Jets coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he was brought to New York.

The Jets had all three quarterbacks active for the Chargers game for the first time all season. Tebow did not play a single snap either as a punt protector or on offense. He was active, according to a source, in case McElroy was hurt. Jets coaches didn’t want to play Sanchez at home, wary of possible fan reaction.

According to SBNATION:

Tebow declined to participate in any Wildcat plays on Sunday after being passed over for third-stringer Greg McElroy. But he had a bunch of good reasons, maybe! Here’s what some of those might have been.

– God already told him the outcome of the game; who is he to interfere?

– Managed to achieve perfectly-tousled hair; didn’t want to ruin it

– Achieved a dangerously high level of swole prior to the game; didn’t want to endanger teammates

– Selfless Tebow knew it was McElroy’s time to shine

– Just knows how to win

– Obsessed with backpack full of hot dogs that Mark Sanchez brought to the game
