Years after their break-up, Yoko Ono is opening up for the first time about the real reason why The Beatles broke up. I’m curious why she decided to open about about what she calls “the divorce” now after all these years. Yoko said that John was pleased with the break-up since all the members said they began to feel like they were Paul’s back-up band and not a united band. Yoko also claims that Ringo and George came to her and John to talk to them about leaving the band before they split while Paul was attempted to keep the band together. Ono also said that Lennon really did miss his bandmates. It’s a shame that they split when they did, but more importantly that John and Paul never spoke after their split and never really got the chance to peace things up. Read what Yoko said below.

Yoko claims that John, Ringo, and George all felt as if they were “getting to be like Paul’s band, which they didn’t like.” Yoko says that Ringo came to her and John first about leaving followed by Ringo. She also said that John expected her to fill the void he had after the group split. According to her, the Beatles were becoming very independent and coming into their own.
