Django Unchained has been a controversial movie from start to finish. From causing uproar over their use of the N-word to the crazy 8 months it took to put it together, it was a trying piece. Though worth it, as it’s been raking in some major bucks at the box office. Talking to the LA Times, one of the film’s stars, Kerry Washington, revealed the filming was so grueling, she nearly lost her mind in the process. It got to the point that it was so bad, she was reaching out for help! Details below.

“I felt like if it had gone on a week longer, I would have lost my mind,” she said of the process. “I [usually] never let my people come visit me on set [because] I think it’s terribly distracting. I don’t enjoy it but I asked [them] to come down because I was concerned for my sanity.”

It couldn’t have made it any easier that she actually got REAL lashings from the actor playing her overseer, and had to spend time in a “hot box” to get used to scenes in where her character was imprisoned in an underground metal container. Good thing she didn’t lose it for real! I don’t know if I could have dealt with all of that!
