There are a number of athletes not on Twitter, but there are 3 that I would LOVE to see join.  Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan & Charles Barkley.  I know the odds are not on my side, but we may be a step closer with the Black Mamba.

Kobe took over Nike’s basketball Twitter feed on Christmas for 3 days and gave it a little test run.  Check out what he tweeted and what he said about joining Twitter after his experience with it…

According to Eric Pincus at LATimes:

“It was cool.  It was just fun.  I had a good time talking with a lot of the fans,” said Bryant.  “The coolest thing about that was the one-on-one interaction.  It was like I was getting flooded with text messages from fans and it was pretty cool to be able to have a dialogue back with them.  I enjoyed it.”

“The one thing about me is that when I’m doing it, I enjoy doing it myself,” said Bryant.  “I don’t know if I have the time available to really give the fans the attention that they deserve.”

Bryant resisted joining Twitter for a number of years, but finally decided to test the waters.

“I really just didn’t know how to use it, but I decided ‘Well, why not give it a shot and just talk to the fans directly?’  I found it to be enjoyable.  I had a good time,” he said.  “I heard a lot of great comments.  You’re able to get a lot of great feedback about the game but also about the product as well — what they thought, what they like, what they didn’t like. It’s the best way to gauge reaction.”
