If you haven’t seen the highly controversial Django: Unchained yet, I suggest you do. Everybody that I know that’s seen it has recommended it and said that the movie was good. I never doubt Tarantino, he’s a film mastermind, and the cast is highly celebrated as well, but some big name stars had to drop out of the movie due to some scheduling conflicts. Take Sacha Baron Cohen who had to drop the movie for Les Miserables or even Joseph Gordon Levitt who also had to drop the film. Other stars who nixed the project include Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, Jonah Hill and more. Hit the jump for more.

“I was editing ‘The Dictator’ and we were very close to release and Paramount wouldn’t push the date, And then I knew I’d have to jump straight from there into ‘Les Mis’ and it basically became a choice of either pulling out of ‘Les Mis’ or pulling out of ‘Django.’ I’m sure ‘Django’ is an incredible movie, but it was essentially one scene.” Cohen was set to play the Role of Scotty, a wealthy man’s 24 year old virgin son who had terrible luck with ladies. Jonah Hill was originally cast for the role of Scotty but due to some scheduling conflicts was forced to drop the film as well before being recast as an early Ku Klux Klan Founder.
