Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel is causing quite a stir from his courtside basketball seats to his casino winnings. Read more after the jump.
Manziel posted an Instagram photo of himself holding a fanned handful of cash, tagged with the caption “casino ballin.” The post apparently caused a bit of a stir because Manziel is just 20 years old and many thought you needed to be 21 in order to gamble at the casino. He responded by deleting the photo (in the gallery above) and with this tweet (also in the gallery above).
As Johnny Football notes, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the picture. He’s of legal age to gamble in the state of Oklahoma. Sports is the only type of gambling banned by the NCAA and it isn’t allowed in Oklahoma casinos. Thus, Johnny Football was an of-age patron in a legal casino and has no such restrictions against him by his sport’s governing body.
However Manziel has to realize that he’s now a well known athlete, a young one at that and everything he does will be scrutinized especially with the strict rules of the NCAA. Just be careful man…
