A beautiful 15-year-old girl with a promising future ahead of her has been shot and killed by a stray bullet in Chicago, just a little over a week after she had the honor of dancing at President Obama’s inauguration. Shortly after she and her friends left their prestigious King College Prep high school yesterday, they decided to hang at the park a few blocks away. Little did Hadiya Pendleton know, those were the final moments of her life.
A shooting broke out amongst the many gang members who were also in the park at the time, and both Haidya and a 16-year-old boy were hit. He’s still currently fighting for his life.
A witness told the Chicago Tribune that she heard 6 gunshots and called 911 after a neighbor told her that some teens had been shot. Neighbors told her as many as 10 young people had been hanging out at the small park, and most scattered after the shooting, though a few stayed behind with the victims. No one has been arrested yet in the incident.
Chicago is truly in need of dire help!
