It seems as if the craze that swept the nation has finally gone quiet as “Tebow Time” looks finished.  The popular quarterback took over and led the Denver Broncos to the playoffs where they eliminated the Steelers in a spectacular overtime win but were later eliminated by the New England Patriots.  With the return of Peyton Manning to the league and him choosing the Broncos over the 49ers, the Broncos decided to ship Tebow off.  He only had two suitors the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets.  He decided to go with the Jets and well we all know how that turned out.  Read more after the jump.

His time with the Jets was lackluster to say the least as coach Rex Ryan refused to start him and played him at practically every position except under the snap.  While there were reports that Tebow was seeking a release which the Jets would grant, it turns out they have something else in mind.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN the Jets do not plan to release Tebow before the start of the new league year in March because they still hope they can trade him.  The question now is will anyone be interested?

The one team that was interested before has now expressed no desire to take on the young QB.  “I can’t imagine a scenario in which he’ll be a Jacksonville Jaguar — even if he’s released,” new Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said at his introductory news conference last month.

One NFL general manager said this week: “I think his career is over without playing another position.”  That’s sad considering how much of a dynamic player Tebow is although I never considered him a good quarterback.  The Jets are hoping some team will give a mid to late round pick in exchange for Tebow and now that there isn’t much interest they’re regretting not giving him a chance to showcase his skills.

In all, Tebow was used for just 73 offensive plays for the Jets (6-10) this season.
