This is so sad, I was really hoping this event wouldn’t end on bad news but it has. 33-year-old, Sarai Sierra from Staten Island, was found dead in Istanbul yesterday. The news of the mother of two’s disappearance came on January 21 when she was supposed to board her flight to come home. Sierra called home, like she did throughout her trip, and promised her children that she would see them the next day, a promise that sadly didn’t come true. Sierra, a photographer, traveled alone to the country after a friend bailed on her. Read more below.
Sierra left America to go to Istanbul on January 9, making a side trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Munich, Germany. The last place she told her family she was going to photograph would be the Galata Bridge and her body was found close to the bridge. Although the investigation is just beginning, it is believed that she did not die where her body was found but it was placed there. Reports are that she suffered a fatal blow to the head.
