Tough break for former NBA star Stephon Marbury. News was released that Marbury had an affair with his former personal chef Thurayyah Mitchell and he agreed to pay her $900,000 in hush money. When the information was released however Marbury considered their agreement breached and contested that he no longer owed her the $300,000 remaining. Mitchell was angry and decided to take Marbury to court. Unfortunately for Marbury a judge didn’t agree with him either. Read more after the jump.
Mitchell was hired as Marbury’s private chef back in 2006 and carried on an affair with the married NBA baller and father. Mitchell filed court documents in October trying to make Marbury pay her the remaining $300,000 as part of their agreement. An arbitrator ruled in Mitchell’s favor, ordering Marbury to pay her an additional $330,000.
Marbury was refusing to pay and filed court documents of his own. According to Marbury, Mitchell gave up her right to that money by publicly filing court docs that detailed her affair with the basketball player. He says the documents violated the confidentiality agreement because they were filed publicly rather than under seal.
On Feb. 1 the judge sided with Mitchell and ordered Marbury to pony up the remaining $331,584.50 he owes plus interest. Ouch costly affair…
