Massachusetts Institute of Technology reported saying they are searching for a person with full body armor and a rifle on campus this morning. The MIT Emergency page had advised everyone to stay where they are, saying multiple law enforcement agencies were on campus and looking to apprehend the suspect. After a thorough search of the entire campus by numerous agencies, the campus has been cleared. Read more details below.
The MIT campus was shut down at around 7:30 a.m. after reports that someone saw an armed person with a “long rifle” walking around a campus building. An initial search of the building resulting in nothing being found, but police continued to have the campus shut down to be on the safe side. The campus re-opened at 10 a.m. after a thorough search of every building. Police are expected to have more details later on today. Hopefully this wasn’t some sick joke that someone was trying to pull.
