Marissa Mayer the New CEO of Yahoo feels that it’s important for Yahoo employees to report to their offices instead of telecommuting all the time. While Telecommuting has many perks Mayer believes that Yahoo can only achieve it’s full potential by being present and making real life connections. The kinds of connections that happen in the hallways of a business or the ideas that are drawn up while at lunch with a coworker are things that would seldom occur in a society where telecommuting is the norm, it automatically sets you apart because you’re physically separated. It’s not a surprise many of the employees who elected to work for yahoo because of its flexibility are strongly against the change but we’ll see how Mayer manages this cultural change in her organization.
