IFWT_MarissaMayerMarissa Mayer the New CEO of Yahoo feels that it’s important for Yahoo employees to report to their offices instead of telecommuting all the time. While Telecommuting has many perks Mayer believes that Yahoo can only achieve it’s full potential by being present and making real life connections. The kinds of connections that happen in the hallways of a business or the ideas that are drawn up while at lunch with a coworker are things that would seldom occur in a society where telecommuting is the norm, it automatically sets you apart because you’re physically separated. See what Mayer had to say and more after the jump.

“To become the absolute best place to work, communication and collaboration will be important, so we need to be working side-by-side. That is why it is critical that we are all present in our offices. Some of the best decisions and insights come from hallway and cafeteria discussions, meeting new people, and impromptu team meetings. Speed and quality are often sacrificed when we work from home.”

It’s not a surprise many of the employees who elected to work for yahoo because of its flexibility are strongly against the change but we’ll see how Mayer manages this cultural change in her organization.
