IFWT_Ronda Rousey win 1

Congrats to Ronda Rousey!!! I’m so all about this!  I used to train with a UFC fighter and always wanted to do this (but didn’t make it #Wahhhhh).  She is the first-ever UFC female champion — defended her title with a first round submission at UFC 157 last night.  Details after the jump….

Via TMZ:

Rousey’s victory marked the first female fight in the near 20-year history of the UFC. She is now 7-0 and has finished off each of her opponents with the same move … an armbar … and all of them in the first round.

Rousey’s opponent, Liz Carmouche, nearly had Rousey set up for a rear-naked choke early, but Rousey countered and eventually went on to win.

Via ESPN:

Ronda Rousey was already the first-ever UFC female champion — but she truly earned the distinction on Saturday.

Rousey defended her UFC bantamweight title for the first time at UFC 157 inside the Honda Center, submitting Liz Carmouche via armbar in the first round. It was the first female fight in the near 20-year history of the UFC.

“Is this real life right now?” Rousey asked, as she wore the belt for the first time. “I’m not sure.”

The result of the bout was what most expected when it was first announced. Rousey (7-0), a former U.S. Olympian in judo, has finished every one of her mixed martial arts fights with the same move within the first round.
