When I first heard this story, I had to sit there and think who the hell would LeBron actually call Jesus?!  Then I had the ‘Ahh ha’ moment. Can you think of who it is?!  I’ll give you a hint: it’s a current teammate.  Got it yet?!  If not, hit the jump…

According to Adi Joseph, USA TODAY Sports:

There have been plenty of movies about basketball. And many of those movies featured actual basketball players.

But Jesus Shuttlesworth stands out.

Ray Allen, then 22 years old, starred in Spike Lee’s 1998 movie He Got Game alongside Denzel Washington, who played his father. The story line was more focused on Washington’s Jake Shuttlesworth, but Allen’s performance as the best basketball prospect in the country is what many people remember most.

Turns out they still do.

The anecdote was first pulled by The Score’s Basketball Jones blogger Trey Kirby, whose tweet drew another, funnier anecdote from Sportsnet’s Holly MacKenzie.

“LeBron (James) while I was waiting for Ray, ‘You waiting on Jesus?’ Then he joked about not being ready to meet Jesus for a long while,” she tweeted.

Apparently other players do too.  “We do it sometimes during games when he catches a hot streak or he does something crazy,” Mario Chalmers told Fox Sports Florida. “We’re like, ‘Jesus.’ Sometimes he just looks over and smiles.”
