Bars, restaurants, and more over New York City are making the needed adjustments to brace themselves for Mayor Bloomberg’s ban on large-sugary drinks. The ban will go into effect on March 12 and has some planning the waiting game as to if the ban is really going to take place while others have already began tossing out their large glasses. No food establishment, including food carts, will be allowed to serve more than a 16 oz sugary drink but the ban doesn’t mean you can’t buy more than one drink. The food establishments are having a bit of a hard time due to the fact that most glassware companies don’t really make 16 oz glasses. Read more below.

Even Coca-Cola is having an issue with the ban since they sell bottles at 20 oz. Some movie theaters will also be offering a buy two-get one free or half off deal. After a three month grace period, establishments will be facing a $200 fine per every sale over 16 oz.
