Looks like the Lakers are going to have to try to make that playoff push without Metta World Peace. He had an MRI Tuesday and the news for the Lakers is not good. MWP tweeted about his injury and how long he could be out, but then changed his mind and deleted that tweet and made a new tweet without the time he could miss (yes, we have both tweets).

The Los Angeles Lakers’ snake-bit season continued Tuesday with Metta World Peace receiving an MRI exam in Minneapolis on his left knee that showed a lateral meniscus tear.

World Peace will return to Los Angeles, where he will be examined Wednesday by team doctor Steve Lombardo, forcing him to miss that night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. An update, including a time table for his return, will be issued at the conclusion of his examination, according to the team.

World Peace had been the only member of the Lakers’ season-opening starting lineup yet to miss a game because of injury this season. World Peace has played in 70 of L.A.’s 71 games (sitting one due to suspension) and averaged 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

World Peace left Monday’s 109-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors with a strained left knee and did not play after halftime. When asked by reporters after the game, he could not remember the specific play that caused the aggravation but said it occurred late in the second quarter.
