Well it seems as though People aren’t feeling Ricky Rozay’s Recent explanation of the alleged ‘Date Rape’ Lyrics, Women ain’t having it, and Now one of Hip Hop’s respected lyricist Talib Kwali has Weighed in, And Talib Never talks about other Fellow Rappers…Feels Like he’s NOT feeling Those particular lyrics. Hit the Jump for what Talib said.
Apparently Some other Blogs put words into Talibs Mouth, Here’s what He Said;
“I don’t care if Rick Ross is 40 years old — he’s a misguided 40-year-old person.”
“Rick Ross condoned rape in that song … and he should apologize, and his apology that he offered was unacceptable.”
Now I posted the Video of Ross Explaining, and I said we can’t take Lyrics as facts…as they are Art, and that Ross actually brought up the conversation(And He Did, because we are all still talking about it)….And I still believe that! I also feel like if Women are Not please by his explanation, then He should Def think about coming up an actual Apology instead of an explanation…Once he opened the door by trying to explain, He left it opened for people to say What they think about the Lyrics and Him. I truly Believe he didn’t mean it that way, But then again I’m not exactly a possible target of possible Date Rape.
The Conversation that is Bigger now is Hip Hop’s Biggest Asset, Lyrics…Will Artists Start to think about what they are saying…Will artist change how they interact with the female profile?! Hard to say, but Huffington Post has an interesting conversation about it;
Just Ignore The The Issue They Will Forget After The Next Hit After The Next hit
Doubt it bruh, this if anything will only embolden rappers more. As long as no charges are being brought up on em, it’s just expressing of their freedom of speech, & art. Which is their right.
It’s their right until their daughter is sexually assaulted by some young punk who takes his lyrics or any other artist misconstrued lyrics seriously. When you are a grown man be it artist or not you do have a responsibility to be careful about wording. I believe in freedom of speech but their has to be a limit. My other belief is parents, especially fathers need to step up and teach their daughters the importance of respecting their self and not take lyrics like his seriously. If men became The main man in their daughters lives what a difference it would make in what they deem acceptable.
Much respect to hands on Fathers!
