IFWT Brett Favre Packers

Brett Favre spent years as the most popular man in Green Bay. But he says he’s not sure how Packers fans view him now, six years after he left the Packers and three years after he finished his career with the rival Vikings.  However, he’s optimistic that he’ll eventually be welcomed back for the kind of farewell ceremony that Hall of Fame players usually get.  Read more after the jump.

Asked on Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket in Dallas if he thinks Packers fans want to welcome him back with open arms, Favre answered, “I’m not so sure about that. I think some probably want to see it go away.”

That doesn’t mean Favre doesn’t eventually expect to return to Lambeau Field, though.

“As far as coming back to Green Bay? We’ll do it one day,” Favre said, via ESPNWisconsin.com.

Favre was booed off the field the last time he left Lambeau, in a Vikings uniform. He remembers that well.

“It made for good TV when I came back, didn’t it?” Favre joked. “That’s what I was thinking the whole time. Boost the ratings.”

It will make for good TV when Favre goes back again and gets the loud ovation that he will surely receive on the day when the Packers retire his number.
