Rescued Bangladeshi Woman
“I told God, ‘Take me, if that’s your will. If not, then save me.”

That’s what a Bangladeshi woman said after being buried underneath a nine-story office building for 17 days. Keep reading to find out how she survived.

Reshma was working in the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh when the building collapsed, trapping many seamstress workers.

“I’d crawl, tire and sleep. I would wake up and crawl again,” she told CNN.

The building initially collapsed on April 24.

Only a day earlier, the building owner called in an engineer to look at the pillars and foundation of the office building. The engineer concluded that the garment building was unsafe to be occupied, but work continued as it normally would.

Reshma survived by somehow scavenging crackers and water near her while others perished around her. She had no idea if it was day or night and it is fairly remarkable she survived the ordeal.

The building owner has since been arrested.
