IFWT Michael Vick

Michael Vick is often criticized and often hurt and the two seem to go hand in hand with his supposed inability to read defenses.  He’s known for holding the ball too long and putting himself in dangerous situations warranting the kevlar vest he had to wear for protection.  In response to the criticism, Vick says those people don’t know football.  Read more after the jump.

“I’m really tempted right now to just say ‘no comment’ to that because, like I said a second ago, you don’t last 12 years in the NFL not being able to read the defense,” Vick told WPEN-FM this week, via Sheil Kapadia of PhillyMag.com. “Those people who are talking and saying that are just ignorant, and they know nothing about football. Unless they turn on the film and watch my game and see what goes on, then they’ll replace those comments with the right comments.”

The reason people love Vick is also the reason he’s frustrating.  Vick is an extremely athletic player, fast and able to complete crazy passes but he’s risky and inconsistent.  Vick ranked 28th in completion percentage last season and 26th in yards per attempt. His 10 interceptions and 11 fumbles were a headache for the Eagles offense.

While Vick may not agree with the assessments it’s probably in his best interest to take heed and adjust.
