St. Louis Rams v New York Giants

Ever so often when a player is dropped from one team and picked up by another, they tend to speak out about their former teammates.  Defensive lineman Chris Canty was released by the New York Giants after four years with the team but was soon added by the Baltimore Ravens.  After just two months with the team, he’s already formed an opinion on Eli Manning vs. Joe Flacco.  Read more after the jump.

It’s a bit of a surprise, that he already believes Joe Flacco is a better quarterback than Eli Manning.

Why Flacco? “Because he won a Super Bowl and he’s one of the best deep-ball throwers in the National Football League,” Canty told NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “Absolutely. Take a look at the tape.”

Well if we’re going off Super Bowl wins, Eli Manning has two to Flacco’s one, including two Super Bowl MVP’s.  While I give Flacco the edge and respect for the latter half of the 2012-13 season, overall body of work would certainly have to go to Eli.

Canty does credit Eli for “being good in clutch situations when you’ve got to have that fourth-quarter drive,” but he simply has more faith in Flacco’s “beautiful deep ball” and the Ravens’ vertical passing game.

Eli isn’t the only former teammate lacking respect from Canty. Tony Romo is his favorite quarterback to sack “by far.”

“I’m on Tony Romo more than the Dallas media,” Canty said of his matchups with the Dallas Cowboys.
