Pittsburgh police have arrested one man, and are still looking for others in the stabbing of Steelers tackle Mike Adams.

According to Michael Hasch of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, 25-year-old Michael C. Paranay was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related crimes for the Saturday morning carjacking attempt.

According to the police report, Paranay allegedly sucker-punched Adams while another man pointed a gun at him and a third stabbed him

Adams had surgery to repair what the report described as a lacerated colon, and the team has said he’ll make a full recovery.

According to the report, Adams left a restaurant and was walking to his truck when the three men approached. One pulled a gun and demanded the vehicle, to which Adams replied: “You aren’t going to shoot me on the street in front of people.” The gunman said, “I want your car or I’ll shoot you in the face and kill you in front of everyone!”

Then, Paranay circled behind Adams and hit him, and the third man stabbed him in the stomach and forearm.

As they ran away without the truck, one of them dropped a cell phone, and police used photos and contacts from the phone to identify Paranay, who Adams picked out of a photo lineup.

UPDATE via PFT:

The police have now arrested a second suspect in the case.

Margaret Harding of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Dquay Means has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, conspiracy, illegally possessing a firearm, escape and carrying a firearm without a license for his alleged involvement in the incident with Adams. Adams identified Means in a photo array and said Means pointed a gun at his head and threatened to shoot if Adams did not turn over his truck.

Means ran from detectives when they came to his house to talk about the stabbing, but turned himself in about three hours later after speaking to his mother. A preliminary hearing on his charges has been set for June 12.

Pittsburgh police had previously announced the arrest of Michael Paranay, who is accused of punching Adams while a third, still unidentified man stabbed the Steelers tackle. Paranay dropped his cell phone while fleeing the scene, which the police found and used to identify him as a suspect in the case.
