At the annual San Fermin Festival wraps up in Spain today, the injury list increases. The event has now closed it’s figurative doors, but unfortunately, a small number of people are suffering from a slew of unfortunate bruises and lacerations. Some even required intense surgery. Hit the jump for more info.

On day one of the traditional event, only four people were hurt. Those four’s injuries are seemingly minuscule when compared to the recent additions to the injury list.

For example, a bull gored a 23-year-old Australian woman and left her seriously injured, requiring extreme medical care.

By way of a regional government official that organizes the event, we learned, “[That] the 23-year-old woman, identified only as J.E., was gored in the back and suffered multiple rib fractures and damage to her right lung that left her in ‘very grave’ condition after an operation at Navarra Hospital.”

As she attempted to grab hold of a nearby barrier, the woman was first caught by aggressive bulls.

In addition to J.E., A 19-year-old Spaniard had stopped breathing after being crushed by large pileup of fallen runners on Saturday. Thankfully, he began to recover consciousness and is now able to breathe without mechanical assistance.

Granted that this event has gone on for hundreds of years, is the thought of surviving the running untouched worth the possibility of injuries like this? Think about that while you check the pics above.
