Trayvon Martin is everywhere, and there are so many more of him when there shouldn’t be. Darius Simmons, a 13 year-old kid, was doing his chores last year when 76 year-old neighbor John Spooner decided to take the situation into his own hands. He accused Darius of stealing a gun from his house, which he hadn’t, and then proceeded to punish him on his own. Spooner is awaiting trial, and based on this video alone, he needs to be locked up for a long time. This video is extremely graphic. If it would remotely bother you, don’t watch it. Hopefully this video will bring about a discussion on change in our gun control and Stand Your Ground laws. Find the video after the jump.
This has nothing to do with Stand Your Ground or gun control. In this case, guy committed a crime and is waiting for his trial. Zimmerman said he had to act in self defense b/c he was being attacked.
I agree. Stand Your Ground, gun control etc. rather promoting disarmament of everyone is not the solution. A criminal acts outside of law by definition even it’s common law. What needs to be promoted is gun ownership and self-defense among law-abiding black people for not only against white supremacy but to take back their own communities against the criminal element inside. This dude committed a crime. He wasn’t defending himself in the least bit. Zimmerman on the other hand you can make the argument it was self-defense however he is the one that created the situation in which he had to defend himself. That’s why they should’ve went for a manslaughter charge but the prosecution dropped the ball.
