Travi$ Scott

Last night, Hot 97 hosted their monthly Who’s Next? Showcase and featured Travi$ Scott as the headliner. Check out the post-performance interview below.

After openers Trips N Slim, Apollo the Great and Doley Bernays warmed up the crowd, the scene quickly unfolded for the “Upper Echelon” rapper/ producer Travi$ Scott. You always know when a head-lining artist enters the building– security gets tighter, the surrounding people’s deodorant starts to wear off and there is this inexplicable lull, even in the midst of heart-attack-inducing bass. Puffs of smoke from Travi$’ purposeful fog machine weaved through SOBs, enveloping us in a Travi$ cocoon. And as the saying goes, where there is smoke, there is fire. La Flame, as Travi$ is commonly called, unleashed one of the most prolific performances SOBs has ever experienced on its historically seeded stage, one that appealed to all the senses.

After performing “Quintana” off of his debut EP Owl Pharaoh, Travi$ quickly took the crowd from 100 to 1000, despite the immobilizing fog. The house was packed; Travi$ pulled off a completely sold out show and filled it with fans who eagerly awaited all of these “surprises” he had tweeted about all week. But, La Flame doesn’t need surprises or hype men to garner a memorable show. He delivered songs like “Bandz,” “Bad Mood,”  his version of “Blocka,” “Drive” with the rolls of smog and the occasional gallant leaps in to the moshing pit of fans.

Check out this interview by Rox Brown, where he talks about breaking down ideas on his new project, LRG clothing and his tour with Casey Veggies.
