The former No. 1 overall draft pick has been working out and getting ready to comeback and hopefully make a substantial splash in his NBA career.  His chronic knee injuries prohibited him from playing with the Portland Trailblazers and after years of hoping he would come around they finally let him go.

Now he’s working on his comeback and several teams are interested including the New Orleans Pelicans.

They will meet with him next week in Indianapolis, reports The Times-Picayune.

The Pelicans will likely begin the season with Jason Smith as their starting center, with Greg Stiemsma and rookie Jeff Withey as the backups. For that reason they have interest in Oden who would be an upgrade, if he can play. Oden has connections with several players and head coach Monty Williams, which puts them in the mix for him.

Other teams interested in Oden include the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics,Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs.
