New Jersey’s Supreme Court has ruled that police now would need to have search warrants in order to receive any kind of tracking information from cell phone carriers. The Supreme Court states that we as cellphone users expect a right of privacy when we sign up for service and the cellphone location data being obtained falls under constitutional oversight. Hopefully these rules go beyond New Jersey borders and other states adapt this law as well.
